PLVSC
10th Annual Easter Egg Run 2007 Saturday, 31st March
2007
The
day started off at 2am for me and then waking hourly until finally getting up
at 7am - must have been over excited! Steve (PLVSC London branch) arrived around
7.30am - obviously also excited! We set off for The Cherry Tree Pub (the
venue for this year) around 9am to get posters up, set out tables and prepare
the custom show area. We wanted to use The Cherry Tree this year as we wanted
to give something back to Ann and Jess at the pub as they have been through a
lot with the threat of bulldozing the pubs amenities (function room, garden and
play area, kitchen, pool area and taking half the car park for flats!). Unfortunately
the land owners fooled us by saying they would save the pub. The pub to them is
the very oldest part of the building and does not include the 'amenites' we enjoyed
yesterday!! Club members arrived soon after we'd arrived with everyone pitching
in to collect Easter eggs, sell patches, getting clubs and custom show entrants
to sign in. Scooter Clubs who did sign in included: Stamford, Huntingdon, Old
Farts, Spalding, Ronnie Biggs, Kettering Massive, Fine City, Melton Mowbray, Lincs,
Blue & Gold, Strangetown, Ar Tarn, Billy No Mates, Ely, WKFA, Generations,
9 Elms, Rhoodman of Rutland, Lifestyle, NVLSC, Full Circle, Fakenham Massive,
Norwich, The Shed, Harborough, Tin Soldiers, Bedford Pilgrims, Corby Steelmen. The
day was chilly at times but the sun was out and it didn't rain, sleet, snow or
throw it down with hail stones which is always a bonus.

The air filled with 2-stoke fumes as the rideout began. There is a great
video that 'Andy' took of some of the scooters leaving on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM3-XWdDF9c We
left The Cherry Tree on route to The Manor Respite Home where respite care
is made available for children with special needs, allowing parents and carers
to take a break.

As ever the children and staff of the respite home and the residents of Derby
Drive were pleased to see the fabulous scooters and Easter eggs of course!
And then we are off again,
this time to The Sue Ryder Hospice.

The Sue Ryder Hospice
runs on charity donations. By everyone giving Easter eggs the hospice are able
to organise a huge charity Easter egg hunt and gain valuable funds needed to help
the continued good work and the running of the hospice.

There
were hundreds of eggs given this year - far too many to count. Thanks to all scooterists
and friends of PLVSC for the eggs and also thanks to the following who made themselves
know: Waitrose (Peterborough); Tesco (City Centre); Classic Gold Digital &
Pete Revell listeners; and Eddie's work-mates.

Donations received from the Classic Gold listeners organised by DJ Pete Revell.
Thank
you for the terrific support of the three Police motorcycle riders. The
Police remarked on the increase in numbers of scooters from last year (approx
250) and we thank them for keeping us together, and moving, throughout our ride
through the streets of Peterborough. After the egg run some of us returned
to The Cherry Tree Pub before returning home to get ready for the evening do at
The Fleet, Fleet Way, Fletton, to listen to one of the best Ska bands in the country
- Big 10 - and the legendary DJ, Tony Class.

Kettering Massive winning the Best Turned Out Club.
Shouts go out to the
following scooter clubs (who signed in - apologies if we missed any clubs from
this following list): Ronnie Biggs SC, Just A Feeling SC, Full Circle SC, Strangetown

Tarn SC and Kettering Massive SC who won the trophy for the Best Turned Out Club.
Sherrie visited Home-Start in the week to give pre-collected Easter eggs
for them to pass on to the children of the families they work with. Home-Start
are a charity organisation who work with less fortunate families and whose vision
is 'Because every parent should have the support they need to give their child
the best possible start in life'.
 Corky
and Sherrie visited the Amazon Children's Ward at Peterborough District
Hospital on Sunday, 1st April to take chocolate Easter eggs for the children being
cared for on the ward.
