PLVSC 8th Annual Easter Egg Run
Saturday, 12th March 2005
The Fleet Centre, Fleet Way, Fletton,
Peterborough, PE2 8DL

Thanks to Andy Lindsay for designing the flyer and Terry
'The Mod' for the original patch design.
Egg Run patches
are available for sale if you didn't get yours.
It seems to be a running theme
of what club members worry about every year; the only thing
we had no control over - 'the English weather'. But we shouldn't
have worried. The sun was shining and although quite chilly,
it looked like this was going to be good day for the 8th Annual
Easter Egg Run.
We met up at The Fleet Centre for
11.00am and were thankful for the drinks/burger van on site
that kept us supplied with welcoming hot drinks and food to
keep the chill out.

A slow trickle of scooters arriving as early as 10.00am -
keen or what!

Filling up nicely now ...

Don't forget that Dale will be shaving off his locks at Great
Yarmouth and you can still sponsor him with all donations
going to Barnados - see our 'What's New' page for details

Custom Show trophy's ... and the winners ...

... and with the trophy's presented ... we're ready for the
off.
We set off after the custom show
at around 1.00pm to take chocolate Easter Eggs to
The Manor Respite Home for Disabled Children and The Sue Ryder
Hospice. Onlookers lined the streets, waving and taking photographs
as we rode through the streets of Peterborough. The three
Police outriders did a fantastic job keeping us together,
stopping traffic and pedestrians for us, which made the ride
out run smoothly. Easter egg donations were given by individual
scooterists and non-scooterists together with our main sponsor
Waitrose who donated £100 worth of eggs. The various
scooter clubs attending the rideout (who signed in) included
Lifestyle SC, Strangetown SC, Stamford SC, Leicester Second
Coming, Cow 'n' Chicken/Ronnie Biggs SC, Bedford Pilgrims
SC, Corby Steelmen SC, Manchester Lazy Aces SC, Kettering
Massive SC, East London Specials SC, Blue & Gold SC -
If we've missed anyone we apologise. The scooter counts
varied from 168 to 182 (Police count), we suppose that
was due to the odd breakdowns and some scooters joining mid-rideout,
but whatever the total count of scooters it was way over last
years figure so we want to thank everyone who turned up on
a scooter and supported this worthwhile event.
We do know from feedback from The Manor Respite Home and
The Sue Ryder Hospice that they are overwhelmed by the support
given by us all. So BIG thanks to you.

Post-rideout ... a few decided to return to The Fleet Centre
for a cuppa and a chat before making the journey home ...

Huge thanks to the Police outriders who got us around Peterborough
safely.
Over 210 people passed through the doors for the evening
do. Clubs that attended and made themselves known to us included
Ronnie Biggs SC, Kettering Massive SC, Blue and Gold SC, Strangetown
SC, Lincoln SC, Peterborough Patriots SC and Bedford Pilgrims
SC. (If we've missed you out let us know as we are happy
to update this section - thanks). The club winning the
trophy for the best turned out club was Northampton Strangetown
SC - well done lads and lassies.
Entertaining us on the night were live band, The Hiwatts,
with Guest DJ Tony Class. In the back room, playing R'n'B,
60's Ska and some alternative tunes were Julian Roberts, Terry
The Mod and Pete. Thanks to Andy for setting up the back room
decks. Thanks to Julie, Sandra, Sue and Ellie who helped out
on the door.

Singing along with The Hiwatts ...

Ellie presents Strangetown SC with their trophy for Best Turned
Out Club.

Time to dance to the great tunes that Tony Class plays on
the decks ...

Bedford boys show off their new shirts.

On the Sunday after the rideout, a couple of us took 3 sack
loads of Easter eggs to the Amazon Children's Ward at Peterborough
District Hospital. This poorly little tot was very happy to
see some of the chocolate eggs placed around his bed.
You may have spotted a freelance photographer
(Terry) at the Egg Run. The photo's Terry's taken can be viewed
and purchased from his website at www.freelance-photo.co.uk
Not a bad present to yourself if you were lucky enough
to be snapped by Terry.
